Germany  will provide 18 million euros to Tunisia to secure its borders with Libya

A spokesman for the German Defense Ministry, Michael Henjis, said that his country will allocate 18 million euros, for Tunisia in support of the border control system with Libya.

Henjis told Russian news agency Sputnik that the funds were allocated from the German defense budget to help secure Tunisia’s common border with Libya, adding that such support would be used to establish a permanent border control system for Tunisia.

For its part, the Associated Press said that the German support aims to provide Tunisia with mobile radar systems, large-scale cameras and electronic surveillance devices to stop the smuggling of arms and “terrorist” migrants from Libya.

Last year, Germany  granted 16 million euros worth of mobile surveillance equipment to Tunisia to strengthen its border control with Libya.
