French President Emmanuel Macaron said that he would propose an initiative to evacuate vulnerable Africans in Libya, saying the Libyan authorities could not be left alone in the crisis.
On Tuesday in an address to university students in Burkina Faso, Macaron said that the initiative he will propose at the African Union and European Union summit in Abidjan on Wednesday will ensure the formation of a joint European-African strategy to combat terrorism.
Several countries have previously sought to settle African migrants on Libyan territory, and this has been met with government and civil rejection.
During a conference organized by the European Union last June, Fayez Al-Sarraj, head of the presidential council of the GNA refused to settle the illegal immigrants in Libya, stressing that this was hinted at more than one occasion.
