Fayez Al-Sarraj and members of the House of Representatives and Supreme Council of the State hope to reach a national consensus

The President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and members of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State in Tripoli confirmed that they are looking to achieve a national consensus which will hopefully lead to the creation of the civil state.

Al-Sarraj pointed out that the path of consensus contains many obstacles; in hopes that those hindering their efforts realize that the suffering of the citizens is no longer tolerable. He added that it is time that those hindering the process “rise to the level of national responsibility”. Al-Sarraj also stressed the need to submit the constitution for the referendum, in order to ensure the upholding of the democratic process.

It is noteworthy that the UN envoy Ghassan Salame has recently submitted a proposal to the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State to amend the executive authority in the political agreement.
