On Friday, the Italian Interior Ministry announced that it had signed an agreement with the Government of National Accord for a project aiming to support the Libyan authorities in controlling Libya’s southern border in order to curb immigration flow.
The Ministry stated that the Italian project, which is funded by the European Union, aims to send a mission to the southern border of Libya in order to build a logistic base for the use of Libyan border guards. The mission would also allow for the presence of United Nations organizations in the region.
