President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday met the National Security Council for a debriefing of the airstrike campaign on ISIS in Libya, named Operation Odyssey Lightning, at the Pentagon.

Obama and Biden met with Defense Secretary Ash Carter, CIA Director John Brennan and Cabinet secretaries.

In a press conference Jeff Davis, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, on Tuesday said, “the finish line is in sight and we are helping the GNA get there.”

The airstrikes campaign will most likely last for several weeks and not several months.

Davis gave credit to the GNA loyal forces for being able to disable ISIS in Sirte taking most of the city back except for parts of the city’s centre.

GNA forces were able to fight ISIS back with bombs they created, snipers and small arms.
