UN Envoy Martin Kobler Calls Shelling of Benghazi Hospital A War Crime

Benghazi Medical Centre was reportedly shelled on Saturday for the fifth time this week. Pictures have circulated showing some damage in the kitchen area of the hospital after the attack.
No injuries have been reported and it is unclear who attacked the hospital.

Head of United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Martin Kobler condemned the attack on the hospital and labeled it a war crime.

“Disturbing reports that benghazi medical center was shelled. Civilian objects like hospitals must be protected. Attacking them is a war crime,” he said..

Benghazi Medical Centre, which is the city’s largest medical facility, has been attacked several times since the onset of Libya’s civil war in 2014.
