100 migrants are now missing in the Mediterranean after a second boat capsized off the coast of Libya on Friday.
In the second tragic shipwreck that same day, 15 migrants vanished in the Mediterranean after their boat, which was transporting 120 people, sank four hours after its departure from Libya for Italy, a United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) spokesperson said.
The survivors of the sunken vessel were taken to Pozzallo, Sicily where eight individuals were transported to a hospital due to serious health conditions.
The news of the second boat sinking came a day after 84 migrants were reported missing when the inflatable craft they were traveling in sank off the Libyan coast on Friday in rough seas, bringing the number of migrants missing to a 100.
An Italian cargo ship was able to rescue 26 individuals, who had come from several West African countries, about seven miles off the Libyan coastal city of Sabratha.
Flavio Di Giacomo, a spokesman for the International Organization of Migration (IOM) posted on a Tweet stating that approximately 480 migrants were rescued last Friday at sea, while over a 110 lost their lives.
